Usually I am up early but on occasion, like today, I sleep in until my husband's alarm. It is a great way to start the day with a stretch and a yawn as I contemplate what I am grateful for today.
Today my gratitude falls around sleep. After very little sleep on our trip last weekend my daughter and I are catching up wonderfully. She has been taking full three hour naps, going to bed on time and sleeping in. I haven't gotten the luxury of naps to help me catch up but I have been sleeping in a bit.
Sleep is a precious commodity in this house. Since my daughter made her appearance early and in the wee hours nearly two years ago sleep has become coveted. And the first year when she woke up many times each night just sealed the exhaustion and my love of sleep.
I'm so grateful for night's of uninterrupted sleep! I'm grateful to be back in my comfy bed next to my husband. I'm grateful to sleep in the last couple days as I play catch up. I'm grateful my daughter is sleeping well and catching up too. I'm grateful for how great we feel when we are rested. I'm grateful for a fresh start each morning and to kick it off with gratitude. I'm grateful for the journey practicing gratitude has brought me on and all the ways it has uplifted my life. I'm grateful to see the abundance of things to be grateful for this morning.
