I love how snow seems to muffle sound. Everyone moves a little slower and light reflects a little different with the white canvas. Although I am never ready for the cold and the first signs of Winter; I do enjoy the beauty of the snow.
Last night I slept so well. It was as if the added blanket outside was an added blanket to my mind. I closed my eyes, head on the pillow, and I was off to dream land.
This morning when I woke everything was so peaceful and still. As much as I love to wake to the birds stirring outside it was nice to wake to silence. I knew I had slept in and part of me wanted to just keep on sleeping in. But I know how writing a blog with a two year old goes.
As I sit downstairs I can see the light from the snow reflecting through the window. The neighborhood is still asleep. The streets are quiet despite the later hour. The first white slumber has fallen.
I'm grateful for the beauty of a blanket of snow. I'm grateful for the roads being cleared on my commute last night. I'm grateful for the trust I have the the city has done everything possible to make the morning commute safe as well. I'm grateful for a great nights sleep. I'm grateful for the quiet that falls with the snow. I'm grateful for the light this white blanket reflects. I'm grateful for this quiet, calm beauty.
What is your favorite thing about the first snow? As a child, what was your favorite snow day activity?
May today bless us with the rest of a white slumber. May we find patience as we slow things down and awe as we open our eyes to nature's beauty. Have a beautiful day!
