While I will not have the time to go outside and groom my actual flower garden, I will be taking mental note of what "weeds" needs plucked from my mind and daily routine. One benefit of just coming back from a long vacation is the ability to see a little clearer where my routine needs tweaked and which stresses can be weeded from my mind.
One stress that I am trying to weed out since returning from vacation is that of stressing over my daughter's sleep. On vacation we did not keep the schedule of naps because we hiked depending on the weather and woke in the mornings when the sun woke us. My daughter let me know when she was ready for a nap, either by sleeping in her carrier or by halting her explorations to come crawl in my lap. Those same cues can be seen at home if I slow down and listen to her.
Another stress to weed is the long to do list of chores. Or rather, the anxiety and stress of feeling they need done right now. There will always be cleaning to do and while I do like a clean house, ultimately it is not worth stressing myself over. What gets done gets done and what does not can wait.
I'm grateful for the opportunity and reminder that today provides. I'm grateful for holidays that help me grow. I'm grateful to be fresh off vacation so I can see these unnecessary stresses clearly. I'm grateful to be mindful of my routine today to see what other tweaks need made. I'm grateful for all the extra snuggles I have been getting from my dogs upon my return. I'm grateful to choose them over chores. And I'm grateful to do my best to reduce daily stress now that I'm home.
What needs weeded from your routine or thoughts? How is your garden?
May today remind us to focus on what we want and let the rest go. Have a beautiful day!
