I'm grateful to wake with the reminder that our differences are our strengths. I'm grateful for my truths and my beliefs of how this World operates. I'm grateful for my understanding that I am always supported. Sometimes I experience frustration when I meet people whose truths are different from my own; whose understanding of the World and God are different from mine. In these moments when I want to defend my truths I try and remind myself that their truths are equally valid. One beauty about living in a place of free religion and expression is having these interactions that can show us others' perspectives. I'm grateful to live in a place of diversity. I'm grateful to live in a place that is accepting of my truths even when it is not fully understood. I'm grateful to give this same love and consideration to those I meet whose beliefs I do not understand. Today is Easter. To all the readers out there that celebrate Easter; Happy Easter! To those readers who do not celebrate or possibly even understand the significance of this holiday; to those that live in a different truth, thank you for your acceptance whether it be active or passive in letting those that believe celebrate in peace. Several days ago my local community was rocked by a "hate" crime. A few beautiful people were harmed by someone who thought his beliefs were better. To me, this is a fear crime. If people focus on our differences then they miss seeing the love and beauty in each person. The beliefs of others do not threaten our own. We each have our own truths and understandings even within the same practiced religion. And when we are secure in our truth, there is nothing to fear in others seeing it differently, no matter how differently. We are stronger because of our differences. If every plank and cable was laid the same way, the bridge could not stand. We need these differences but we also need love and acceptance for those that believe differently. I'm grateful to surround myself with people that respect each other. I'm grateful to be in a community that sees love in one another and can support each others' differences. I'm grateful to find love and peace within my truths. I'm grateful to celebrate with my family today despite any differences in beliefs we may hold. I'm grateful for love. What do you believe? How can you find love and acceptance for those who hold different truths? How can you show love above any differences? Have a beautiful day! May it be filled with love.
