I could feel the slight give under the pressure of my teeth but no matter how hard I tried I could not bite a piece off or chew it small enough to swallow. Each time I would wake clenched on to my mouthguard like a dog to its favorite chew toy. Dream after dream the tough ravioli returned.
As I woke this morning I couldn't help but laugh. Spinach ravioli has been a common sight in my life right now as it is one of my daughter's favorite lunches. The dreams seemed to come every couple hours, the frequency in which my daughter wakes on a normal night. My daughter slept peacefully but I was up chewing the tough ravioli all the same.
I'm grateful to laugh at my body and mind's reaction. I'm grateful to find humor in the tough ravioli. I'm grateful to know techniques to massage my jaw and release the tension I built overnight. I'm grateful my daughter slept well and woke rested. I'm grateful she likes spinach ravioli as they are one of my favorite easy meals too. I'm grateful to start a new day with a smile on my face.
What does your sleep tell you? Do you have dreams or sleep habits that may be trying to teach you something? My awareness is for me to let go and trust that my daughter is well when she is sleeping peacefully. My dreams tell me to relax and sleep.
May today be a reminder to let go of what we cannot control. May we remember to take the opportunities given and just relax. Have a beautiful day!
