The lightning has flashed and boomed periodically, leaving a low rumble crawling across the sky. I find it soothing, satisfying when it rains like this. When I lived in Washington it rained a lot but thunder was rare. Maybe it is being from the Midwest, or maybe it is my personality, but I like the rumbling during a rain.
And as I sit here this morning there is another welcome sound. The grumble of the sump pump as it runs to make sure our basement stays dry, kicks on every few minutes. It is a comforting sound despite the actual sound.
I'm grateful for the rain we are getting. I'm grateful it has come somewhat slow and steady. I'm grateful nature has been allowed to soak up as much as it needs. I'm grateful for a good long drink after a dry wave. I'm grateful to have a weekend to mostly stay home and relax which was supported by the sound of rain. I'm grateful for sleeping well to the sound of the rain. I'm grateful for minimum fear and freak-outs from my dog during the thunder. I'm grateful for the sump pump working hard to keep our home dry.
What blessings are raining down on you today? What do you like about rainy days?
May today help us count our blessings. May we see the symbolism of abundance all around us. Have a beautiful day!
