My feet have always provided me with strong messages. From the warts a few years ago reminding me of self-love and acceptance to the pain of a potential bunion reminding me to allow myself space and nurture old wounds, the messages have been far from subtle. Now as heel pain and plantar fasciitis present a message it is once again time to listen.
For me, this recent message is about balance and remembering my needs. Between standing barefoot next to a crib in the middle of the night and spending days working, running errands, cleaning, and walking my baby there has been little time taken for myself. This weekend I listened.
I took some time to sit and put my feet up. I took some time to be in the moment with my daughter. I took some time to just relax. And now I am starting the day offering my feet some comfortable shoes and a truce. Today I will go slower and balance what needs done with my own care.
I'm grateful for my body's messages. I'm grateful to listen to the messages and do my best to interpret and respond. I'm grateful for a relaxing day at my parents' house yesterday. I'm grateful to practice balance and even more grateful for the reminder to live in the moment. I'm grateful for comfortable shoes and all the support they provide. I'm grateful for my feet and the places we get to go together.
What is your body telling you? Are you listening to its messages?
May today remind us of the beautiful strength of our bodies. May we find time to honor all that the body does for us. Have a beautiful day!
