I went to bed early and even woke at 5:30 to put my daughter back to bed. But as I stood there feeling exhausted I could not muster the determination to do anything but crawl back into bed. If I have learned one thing since my daughter was born it is to listen when my body says it is run down and give it rest.
As I lay back down I heard the rumble of thunder and pitter patter of rain beginning outside. It was confirmation that I had made the right choice, as my dogs would not have wanted to go out in the rain anyway. The sound of the rain reassures me I am in the flow.
I laid in bed until nearly seven as my husband got ready for work. Still feeling tired but unable to fall back asleep I decided to make my way down to the computer. As I sit here in the dim light of a rainy day the background noise is that of my daughter's wave machine. I make my breathing match the rhythm and the calm of the waves reassures me I am in the flow.
I'm grateful for the sounds of flow. I'm grateful for the sound of water and its presence in the start of this day. I'm grateful to have this reassurance and these cues to help me stay in the flow. I'm grateful for the slow morning start and to give my body the extra rest. I'm grateful for the sounds of peace and the sounds that inspire calm. I'm grateful to match my breath to the calm steady wave machine. I'm grateful for this new day.
What helps you stay in the flow? What sounds serve as reminders to you?
May the sounds of nature provide peace. May we find it easier to stay in the flow than go against it. Have a beautiful day!
