One tip I find especially useful, because it's easy, is the use of citrus. Simply smelling oranges or lemons (or other citrus smells) is an instant mood-lifter in men and women. This tip is worth sharing because, again, it's so easy!
There are a number of ways to add citrus smells to the day. If you like the taste, you can simply eat and orange for breakfast! You could juice one for fresh orange juice or even just puncture the skin to get the aroma going. But if you do not have any fresh oranges or citrus fruits around, there are citrus essential oils you can use. Simply dilute and put into a mister to spritz your body or room or put in a diffuser to uplift the whole room. There are so many ways to easily incorporate this mood-lifting smell.
Around the holidays this can be particularly useful. Using it when you host a party can keep the mood positive and reduce any hosting stress you may be feeling. Put some citrus on before entering a store to do your shopping to keep that positive mood. The options are endless.
Today, as you may have guessed, I'm grateful for citrus. I'm grateful for the people who go out and research these things. I'm grateful for all the tips I have learned so far and to know there are hundreds or even thousands of more tips to find. I'm grateful to have a bag of cuties on my counter to uplift my whole week. I'm grateful for their tiny size, the perfect addition to my breakfast. I'm grateful to go to school today to learn some new techniques on applying Positive Psychology to more specific struggles like anxiety and depression. And I'm grateful for the way my coaching practice will grow from the information I learn today.
What is your favorite way to uplift your day? Is there a tip or trick you use to stay positive during times of stress? When was the last time you used citrus in your day?
May today uplift and support you. May you find joy in this holiday season. Have a beautiful day and weekend!
