She had been my baby for ten years when my daughter arrived. And while she still has some adjusting to do, she has truly stepped up to be the big sister to this little grabbing, hair pulling, crying human. Pippin has also had to become my helper with my older dog who wanders off and has trouble with her bladder. Pippin always keeps a watchful eye on both her sisters.
This morning as I woke, my head feeling like it may explode from the cold that has settled in my sinuses, Pippin was there. She was resting right by my bed in case I should need anything. She is such a sweetheart.
I'm so grateful for Pippin. I'm grateful for the spunky "Pipster" I brought home from the shelter so many years ago. I'm grateful to always have a loyal friend and helper in her. I'm grateful for all she has taught me about unconditional love. I'm grateful for these moments of quiet where I can just lie next to her on the floor. And I'm grateful for the millions of ways she has made my life better, helped me through tough times, and celebrated the joys with me.
What has your pets taught you? Have you known the unconditional love of a dog?
May today remind us to not take for granted our four-legged friends. May we learn from them and practice the unconditional love they teach. Have a beautiful day!
