Yesterday I had the opportunity to give back to some of the amazing women of my community by providing free chair massages at a wellness event. In talking to the women, there were a variety of career fields yet lots of teachers and nurses. I spoke to them about the importance of taking care of themselves so they could take care of all their charges each day. Self-care is one aspect of my coaching program for mothers as well. So often women give and give until they are exhausted and then feel bad that they have hardly anything left to give. I give advice and tips on how to handle this all the time. But after over three hours of a line from my massage chair to the door, I realized I needed this caring gift as well. I walked up to the last woman in line at that moment and asked her to please tell anyone else that walked up that after her I would be taking a thirty minute break. She was happy to and about forty-five minutes later I was happily pausing for lunch. These women were not doing anything wrong in lining up for my services. They were stepping up for themselves and asking for a little care, which was so wonderful to see. I was proud of myself for doing the same and giving myself that same gift of care by taking a break. As soon as I was back at my chair the line reformed again and went strong until the end of the event. I'm so grateful to have been able to help those women get some of the relief they were needing. I'm grateful to have been a part of such a great event to give back. And I'm grateful to have recognized my needs and honored those as well. I'm grateful that in standing up for my needs I also gave an example to those women of practicing what I "preach" and nurturing myself with love. I'm grateful to know I love myself enough to care for myself. I'm grateful to know that by doing so I can take better care of others. How can you give yourself the caring gift today? How can you nurture yourself? May today be blessed with a balance of care. May you find ways to give yourself the gift of love. Have a beautiful day!
I believe the way to a better future starts with gratitude today.
