The first squirrel came sneaking down a nearby tree trunk and was just about to make his surprise attack when the first popped its head up and darted away. They played chase for a bit making daring leaps from tree trunk to tree trunk, spiraling around with the first squirrel becoming the victor.
The winner then did a dance, waving its tail in a beautiful display of dominance. It looked choreographed the way it moved forward then back while holding it's tail and giving a shake to the side and front. Nature always provides the best reality shows.
I'm grateful to spend so much time outside this weekend. I'm grateful to have a whole, long weekend with my family. I'm grateful for our large deck that made for a great stage for our playtime. I'm grateful to celebrate my dog's birthday with bubbles. I'm grateful for the gift of a water table from our former neighbors that my daughter loves. I'm grateful to witness the beautiful displays of nature and the victory dance on the squirrel. I'm grateful to reconnect to the beauty of nature.
What is your favorite nature reality show? When was the last time you just sat at the window and watched instead of watching television?
May today reconnect us to nature. May we find simple ways to find beauty all around us. Have a beautiful day!
