I want to share a couple tips and tricks I use to try to stay in the moment. Obviously I use gratitude as one of those tools. I will do random gratitude checks to find something in my immediate surroundings or situation that I am grateful for to help me refocus on the moment. For example, right now I'm grateful to have an outlet near my laptop so I can finish my thoughts without moving upstairs. I turn the music off when I'm trying to complete a task and then later use music to break out of the work mindset by singing along to songs that make me happy. I try to take a breather if I am feeling overwhelmed. It's amazing what a few deep breaths can do for not only calming the mind and body but also bringing me back to the simple truth of "I Am". Of course the practices like yoga, meditation, Qigong, and so on are great tools in finding and maintaining that quieted mind but in the moment of a busy day of work, I hope these tips help.
Today I am so grateful for this picture that takes me back to the moment in the garden with nothing but the sound of wind through the leaves and this water fountain dripping. I'm grateful for my laptop that lets me work wherever I am most inspired. I'm grateful for the conversation yesterday that challenged me to verbalize how I help regain focus and quiet the mind. I'm grateful to be open to knew ideas and admit that these are practices that go better some days than others. I'm grateful to be imperfect and see that it IS my perfect. I'm grateful to have today to run around and further the name change process. I'm grateful to be heading out of town tonight for a fun vacation.
How do you stay in the moment? What tricks and tips have you learned to focus? May your day be blessed with the opportunity to slow down. May you find love and gratitude in each moment. Have a beautiful day!
(I am going out of town and may not be able to post while I am gone. In that case, have a beautiful weekend and I will begin posting as usual on Tuesday when I return.)
