The Chiefs have not been an easy team to love over the years. They have had their wins and they have had plenty of losses. For me, it wasn't about the Superbowl; it was about family time and rooting for a common cause.
This season has been really fun as they start out the season with wins. Even last night's game, losing by just a few points in the last seconds of the game to the Patriots, was a win for us. I was so proud watching their skill and commitment out on the field. And if we had to break our winning streak, it was nice to just barely lose it to the Superbowl champs.
In some ways team pride is like family pride. As a family we don't always come out on top, but it is still a win when we come through it as a team. When we try our best and work together; That's a win.
I'm grateful to be a Chiefs fan. I'm grateful to stand by them in the rough years and in the good years. I'm grateful this year has been a great start. I'm grateful for my own team, my family. I'm grateful to work together and do our best even if the wins are internal. I'm grateful that on my family team concussions and tackles are extremely rare. And I'm grateful for the safety of the players out on the football field too. I'm grateful for the time spent watching the games with my dad and I'm grateful to be building memories watching the games with my husband and daughter now. I'm grateful to remember that wins come in many shapes and sizes, not just from a scoreboard.
What sports do you enjoy watching? What teams do you root for no matter their ranking? What teams are you a member?
May today remind us the big picture takes a blend of losses, learning, and wins. May we embrace the members of each of our teams, including team humanity, as we work together. Have a beautiful day!
