I will admit it did not take much convincing for me to cuddle up on the sofa with her. My warm fuzzy robe keeping us both snuggly, she curled up in my arms and drifted back to sleep. I was unable to catch anymore z's but I did enjoy this moment to take five and watch my little one sleep.
There are many reasons to take five with a toddler in the house. Many of them have to do with resetting to find a new a creating way to curb a behavior or redirect her attention. Snuggling on the sofa on a chilly morning is definitely one of my favorite take five moments. I know I have said it a thousand times in the last year, but this child is growing up too fast.
I'm grateful to take five. I'm grateful for these moments with my daughter when I surrender my agenda and just hold her. I'm grateful to watch the peaceful look on her face as she sleeps in my arms. I'm grateful for the constant amazement I feel at everything she can do and say already. I'm grateful for deep breaths in moments of frustration and I'm very grateful for the creative ways I have found to distract her. I'm grateful for each moment we grow and learn together.
What gives you reason to take five? What is your favorite way to spend that time?
May today remind us to give ourselves five, frequently. May we remember to cherish the moment we are in while we are in it. Have a beautiful day!
