If I am the trunk and the limbs are the goals I reach for and successes I achieve, then the roots are more than just myself. The roots are the strength and wisdom of my collective family. The roots are all those who have given me advice, a shoulder to lean on, or been a part of my growth in any number of ways. The roots are not just my blood family but my spiritual family and even my community.
Yes, I grow some of my own roots through my experiences but those roots do not stand alone. My limbs, aspirations and dreams, can only stretch as far as I have the support to reach. I am strong because I am supported.
Today I am so thankful for the people who have been in my life since my birth. I'm grateful to have a large family. I'm grateful for the people I have met and created relationships with along the way. I'm grateful for those that have lasted the tests of time and whom I am confident will continue to be a part of my life for the decades to come. I'm grateful for new friends that give me new perspective and new opportunities to grow. I'm grateful how each person is a different reflection to open my eyes to new aspects of myself. And I'm grateful to feel the strength of all these roots planted in the earth.
Who contribute to your roots? What events have carved new limbs for you?
May today bless you with feeling the strength of your ancestors and loved ones. May you find the courage to reach for your desires while rooted steadily in the earth. Have a beautiful day!
