As you each carve out your own path on the journey of life there are different tools you can use to assist you. One way to ease this frustration is to break the big goals down into smaller goals, guideposts to see your progress. Yes, I want my company to bring in $10,000 a month but first I have to find and take the opportunities that get it making $10,000 a year and build on that goal. I want to be fit enough to run a marathon (without actually having to RUN that marathon, haha) but first I have to find the discipline to start training and from there work up to a 5k and so on. The goals we set are usually big, that is an important part of seeing our dreams come true. But don't forget that those goals take time.
Along the way pay heed to the stepping stones. Growing up in a family of stained glass crafters, to me stepping stones are ones of beautiful color and design. Each stepping stone along the path deserves a moment of gratitude and appreciation. Working toward our goals is the same way. Those stepping stones could be opportunities that came along that helped you move in the right direction. It could be a guidepost achieved or even just taking a moment to see the other beautiful things in your life that are going right in this moment. Think of all the support you may be receiving as you work towards your goals. Or what about the amazing persistence you have to keep trying despite the bumps in the path.
We all have dreams that we work toward while we're here. But it's the journey in getting there that is the true gift of life.
I'm grateful for the stepping stone moments as I stop to see how far I have come. I'm grateful to set achievable guideposts to allow me to see my progress. I'm grateful for the beauty of this moment when there is clarity of what step to take next. I'm grateful for the conversation yesterday that vocalized this common frustration and I'm grateful to offer some advice in bringing it back to the moment.
What are your stepping stones today? What are you grateful for? How can you break your larger dreams down into guideposts of smaller goals? May you take a moment to see how far you have come and may today bless you with pride for yourself and your amazing journey. Have a beautiful day!
