I don't even mind that it is coming with rain. Perhaps this will finally bring my crocus and daffodils to bloom, which is a sign Spring is near.
My daughter made this snowman picture at school. Normally when I think of snowmen I think of three round circles with buttons down the front and a face on the top circle. Yet this melting snowman brings me joy. It reflects how I feel and my eagerness for warmer temperatures.
My daughter has been asking for warm weather stuff a lot the last several weeks. She misses picnics and the playground. She misses playing outside with her water table and eating popsicles on the deck. Most of all she has been asking to go camping. At two and a half it is probably hard to remember that this happens every year and with this winter lasting so long it is easy to see why she may be concerned and missing her favorite activities.
I am hoping to surprise her this weekend by setting up the tent in the dining room with a fake campfire and do our own little "campout". I'm excited just planning it! I'm sure that pregnant mommy sleeping in a tent on the floor with a toddler will leave us both a little tired; camping is always a bit of an adjustment the first night or two. But it will be well worth the memories and the joy it brings.
I'm grateful to see the temperatures make it above freezing. I'm grateful that the next week is predicted to all be above freezing, at least during the day. I'm grateful for the hope of flowers beginning to bloom. I'm grateful for the anticipation of Spring! I'm grateful my daughter loves so many of the things I love like camping and playing in water. I'm grateful for do fun little surprises for her and special activities that create great memories. I'm grateful to be moving toward the months when we can get back outside and play in the sun.
What is your favorite season? What are your ideal temperatures? What activities do you enjoy most?
May today fill us with renewed hope and excitement for life. May we embrace the changing season and find joy in the new activities it brings. Have a beautiful day!
