Spring brings joy and hope. It also brings reconnection to my neighbors as we all begin to come outside and tend the yard. It is good to catch up, to converse, and to make the plan for this season's gardens and yard work.
This weekend we were able to open up the house and air out a little. We christened the season's arrival with chalk on the driveway and bubbles floating through the air. And my daughter and dog seem to have finally worked out a system on who gets which bubbles to reduce collisions in the excitement.
It was a fun-packed weekend and I will admit we are all a little exhausted getting up and heading into this Monday morning. But it was worth it to enjoy the changing of the season and get some time outside.
I'm so grateful to live in a place with four seasons. I'm grateful for the way it mixes things up. I'm grateful to move into a warmer season and begin thawing out and shedding some layers. I'm grateful to see neighbors out and about again. I'm grateful the gardens are beginning to bloom. I'm grateful for the joy I feel seeing daffodils and crocus emerge in the Spring. I'm grateful to get to spend time outside this weekend. I'm grateful to watch my daughter's joy as she ran and played outside without the bulk of coat and mittens.
What do you love about this time of year? What is your favorite season? What was the best thing going on in your life this weekend?
May today help us shed any winter baggage. May we be "reborn" as we emerge from our winter hibernation. And may we find, in our emergence, a beautiful world of possibilities waiting for us. Have a beautiful day!
