Today is my Grandparents' anniversary. Neither of them are here anymore but they are together again. There are so many songs that remind me of them. My favorite is the one that goes, "hey good lookin', whatcha got cookin'..." Yesterday I heard the song "Grandma's Note." That one has pulled at my heartstrings since before my grandparents were gone and yet listening to it yesterday it somehow meant even more.
I mostly surround myself with positive and uplifting music that helps me create positive, happy days. But there is something to be said for the beautiful songs that truly sing to the heart as well. Yesterday as I felt a few tears slip down my cheek I was grateful for all the people in my life that mean so much to me and the songs that capture the feeling so well.
I'm grateful for cheerful, positive, and bouncy songs. I'm grateful for reflective songs that go straight to my heart. I'm grateful for songwriters that can capture those tender feelings and express them so clearly. I'm grateful for the beautiful voices of the artists that sing them. I'm grateful to allow my radio to surprise me with these heart songs and I'm even grateful to let a few tears come from the beauty. I'm grateful for the reflection of people I miss and the impact they made on my life. I'm grateful for the people and relationships that are still here and the ones that are yet to come that are worth singing about. I'm grateful to be so blessed and to have so many wonderful people in my life.
What songs speak to your heart? Who, in your life, has created that space in your heart?
May today remind us how truly blessed we are for the people in our lives. May we acknowledge the tenderness these relationships bless us with whether it be past or present. Have a beautiful day!
