As an adult, especially as a mom, I find my soul (and sanity) needs female friends. There is just something about the female connection that understands what others cannot. There is a special bond formed in female friendships, and an even deeper bond between sisters.
My sisters may not have come from my dad and mom but when did trivial things like that rule the heart? We are blood al the same and we know each other inside and out.
As we have grown we have gotten swept up in life and there are months we go without hearing from each other. Yet when one of us picks up the phone it is as if no time has passed. We can celebrate with each other, cry with each other, and tell jokes that only we understand.
I'm so grateful for the bond I have with my cousins. I'm grateful to have been blessed with two sisters even if they are from different parents. I'm grateful for the friends that I see as sisters as well. I'm grateful for a network of women in my life from grandma-aged with wisdom and bluntness, to mother-aged protectiveness and perspectives, to my female peers who ride the waves of life beside me. I'm grateful to have been blessed with so many strong, wonderful females. I'm grateful for the connection I have with my sisters. And I'm grateful for the time we carve out of our crazy schedules for each other.
Who are your sisters? What is the best part of your relationship with your sisters?
May today strengthen the connection with those we love. May we remember to make time for the people who mean the most to us. Have a beautiful day!
