Today is National Day of Silence. I will admit that until recently I had not heard of this. National Day of Silence is a way to raise awareness about the bullying and mistreatment of those in the LGBT community. Many people in this community face harassment for being true to who they are to the point where some have even been coerced into silence.
While there has been a shift in this mentality it is still a daily struggle for some in our community. We are all human. We are all one. We walk different paths, such as what career we will work and what car we will drive, even what religion we will follow. Most of these differences we do not think twice about and yet a simple truth of who we are as an individual or whom we choose to love has somehow taken heat. It is time for this to stop. It is time to embrace love for all people.
I'm grateful for this day of silence. I'm grateful to see the coverage of this event and I'm grateful for the awareness it bring to our community. I'm grateful for those who turn away from judgement or fear and embrace love. I'm grateful for those who see us all as human first. I'm grateful to see the connection we all have and I'm grateful for the love in every heart.
How will you choose to embrace humanity today? How will you support those who are bullied? How will you be love?
May today bless us all with open hearts. May we find love and commonality among all people despite our differences. And may we live in harmony. Have a beautiful day and weekend, my friends.
