The common ways of dealing with it are to slowly move up bedtime to adjust for the change and hope your body adapts to the shift in wake up times too. And this can be very helpful. My body, however, seems to rebel by being not tired when it is the new bedtime but them waking earlier than usual because it knows something is different.
Meditation and yoga are two great ways to help ease this transition. They can help foster relaxation for sleep and energy to waking. Essential oils can also help ease this transition. So is this what I have been doing? No.
Unfortunately I have gotten out of that practice the last few weeks too. And while I know that these things help me, even when there is not a time change, I seem to consistently make the choice to not do them... until today. But while I make the decision to get back into these habits to help me re-sync I also practice self-forgiveness for falling out of practice to begin with... again. It happens. It's a cycle and today I will begin anew.
I'm grateful to make the commitment to get back to my self-care practices today. I'm grateful to forgive myself for falling out of practice once again and for the very likely possibility that it will happen again. I'm grateful for how my body feels after a good yoga stretch. I'm grateful for the extra rest and renewal of energy that meditation brings. I'm grateful for the scents of my oils and the benefits they bring me. And I'm grateful to be human and be able to share my journey with you.
What practices make you feel more energized and in sync? Are you currently doing them regularly? If not, what would it take to make that commitment to yourself again?
May today be one of nurturing and love. May you commit to what is important to you and find forgiveness in the rest. Have a beautiful day!
