I'm feeling a little farmer-ish today. I'm decked out in my overalls which are proving to be so comfortable during pregnancy. And I just received an email that today is National Eat Your Vegetables Day. So today I would like to give gratitude for comfort, health, and a special shout-out to farmers. I'm grateful for the gift of comfortable overalls, from a family friend, when I could only find "fashion" overalls in the stores. I'm grateful for the comfort of baggy legs and a bib that supports my belly and holds whatever I need to carry. I'm grateful to not be weighed down by the conventions of current styles and, while I do enjoy some of those clothes as well, I'm grateful to be comfortable today. And a special thank you full of gratitude to Pippin for modeling one of my pairs of overalls this morning. I'm grateful to be on a spinach kick this week with my cravings. I'm grateful to have a drawer full of veggies in my fridge so that I can participate in today's holiday even though I didn't know in advance. I'm grateful for all the delicious veggies that nourish my body. I'm grateful for the farmers today that devote their lives to supplying food for the rest of us. It is not an easy job and I'm grateful for their persistence and knowledge. I'm grateful for all those farmers that keep small farms and traditions from the generations before them. And I'm extra grateful for those farmers that keep their vegetables organic, even when it means extra effort and requirements, just provide us with the best there is to offer. Do you know a farmer? Have you ever tended a garden of your own? What is your favorite vegetable? And when was the last time you wore overalls? May today bless us with the opportunity to thank those that support us. May we find ways to give back to the people that help provide us with healthy food. Have a beautiful day! |
