One thing I love about road trips with my husband is the actual drive. We rarely turn on the radio. We just talk.
The things that interest us, articles we have read, vehicles, politics, it doesn't really matter what the subject, we simply reconnect. And after each trip I feel we know each other even better.
Yesterday was a beautiful, albeit windy, day for traveling through the Flint Hills. Between the sunshine and the conversation with my love it made for the perfect way to spend the day.
As we head back into another work week, I'm grateful for this weekend's getaway. I'm grateful for our conversations both with each other and with loved ones we rarely see. I'm grateful for the beautiful weather we had on our trip. And I'm grateful to be back home with my snuggly dogs as the weather turns chilly again. I'm so grateful for all the wonderful people we are blessed with in our lives and I'm grateful for the ability to celebrate with them. I'm grateful to hold this warmth and love in my heart as I begin a new week. And I'm grateful for the week ahead that will be filled with blessings and celebrations as well.
I'm grateful to also get to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday this week. I'm grateful for the beauty she brings to our lives and the love her and my brother share. I'm grateful to have her as family.
What was the best thing that happened to you this weekend? Who do you enjoy spending time with or traveling to see?
May today plant sunshine in your heart and allow time for your loved ones. Have a beautiful day!
