I pointed out that I have changed up trying different self-care things to see which fits better for me right now, such as yoga, qigong, chanting, etc and yet as soon as I make it the goal I resist it. One of my friends who attends regularly said, "what if you didn't specify and just gave yourself a menu of choices?" Simply brilliant.
We all love choices and what better way to help me get back into my self-care pattern with my every changing schedule and needs than options. One of the things I know I have been lacking in my life is time for creative expression, outside of the workshops I lead. Time for my own creativity to flow unstructured and from the heart is very healing for me. So I created this Joy Menu to allow my self-care to be fluid, organic, and hopefully more effective.
I'm so grateful for my Project Joy group. I'm grateful for my friend that has such great suggestions. I'm grateful to get to express some creativity just in making my menu and I find myself excited to meet the goals I set around my menu this month. I'm grateful for the reminder of choices. I'm grateful for the reminder that sometimes we have to step back from what we think we need and feel into what we need. And I'm so grateful to have already begun using my Joy Menu.
