Autumn is my favorite time of year as the leaves begin to change colors, the weather is perfect for outdoor time, and some of my favorite foods come into season. Butternut Squash Soup, Pumpkin Seeds, and Chili are on the horizon and I can nearly smell them already.
For me, October is also a playful month. Between World Smile Day and International Do Something Nice Day there is lots of love bing shared. There is a day for poetry and to celebrate artists to help reconnect with my creativity. And of course, let's not forget the playfulness of Halloween! On top of all of this it is my birthday month and as I wrote a few days ago, aging is something to celebrate.
I'm so grateful for this month. I'm grateful for the beautiful weather that has blessed our area over the last few days. I'm grateful to sleep to the sounds of nature. I'm grateful for deep, restful sleep as I reconnect. I'm grateful for a month of generous and loving holidays. I'm grateful for all the creative opportunities that are encouraged this month and the reminder to play. I'm grateful to get to share this experience with my daughter and to re-learn from her the basics of playing. I'm grateful for my birthday and this time of celebration. And I'm grateful to have such wonderful friends and family to celebrate with this year!
What is your favorite thing about Autumn? What is your favorite month?
May today remind us of all the simple joys there are in our lives. May we take a moment to celebrate the symbolism and each blessing that is offered to us today. Have a beautiful day!
