I have never been so grateful to live near a store than I have become the last four months. Pregnancy has made me aware of just how many modern conveniences I take for granted each day, and I don't just mean the bathrooms everywhere. The first months I was nauseous most the day, every day. Cottage cheese was one of few things I could eat and I went through a lot of it. Being able to run to the store whenever I got low was so important. Over the last couple weeks it has been increasingly hard to fit my pre-pregnancy clothes. My belly has "popped". Sunday I went and found some maternity clothes on sale and now today I realize a couple things I forgot that I will soon need. Not having to buy the fabric and sew my own clothes, milk my own cows, or walk into the woods to use an outhouse have made pregnancy so much easier. And while I would love to have a cow, in theory, I am so grateful for these modern conveniences today. I'm grateful for my "fancy" cottage cheese bowl. I'm grateful for foods that help nausea and even more grateful that the nausea has mostly subsided. I'm grateful for clothing that fits and stores that are close by so I can get the few things I forgot on the last trip. I'm grateful for all the ways life is easier today that in centuries past. And I'm grateful to feel grateful and let that feeling carry me through the day. What modern conveniences have you used in the last week, day, or hour? Are there any conveniences you choose to live without? May today inspire your gratitude for the everyday conveniences. Have a beautiful day! |
