I'm grateful for meditation. I'm grateful to try and quiet my mind and refocus my intentions on the broader aspects of my life. I'm grateful to recenter in gratitude. With the holidays approaching it is easy to become a stress monkey and get swept up in all the chaotic energy around us. Believe me, I'm right there too! And so I was extra grateful last night for the outside reminder to meditate. I'm grateful for such a calming practice. I'm grateful to practice just being. Frequently I hear people say that they can not meditate because they can't stop thinking or sit still that long. That is exactly why we need to meditate. And that is why it is called a practice. Some days I am more able to quiet my thoughts than other days but I do my best and that is good enough. Besides, have you ever caught yourself day dreaming or zoning out? Have you ever just closed your eyes and sat in the car before driving home after a long day? These are the beginning steps to meditation. These moments of quiet; of letting conscious thought go are the beginning practice of meditation!
