Despite the reality that we will probably have several more cold spells before warm weather arrives to stay, my Crocus have already peeked their heads and begun to bloom. This is why they have earned their way into my list of favorite flowers. They are always the first to signal Spring and provide a little hope.
We all have the ability to be Crocus for someone. When the grey Winter days and the cold seem to be dragging on, there are bright spots and beauty to be found. When we can't see it for ourselves there are friends and family that can help us. And when our friends and family are in the shadow, we can provide a little cheer.
Seasonal Depression is very real. It can affect anyone. Less sunshine and more separation from not only being outdoors but often social settings can all add to this struggle. But the light always returns again. So for anyone out there that is struggling, these Crocus are for you. Spring is almost here.
I'm grateful to know that Spring is just around the corner. I'm grateful to have the Crocus as a reminder of Spring as well as a reminder to be that bright spot of hope for whoever I can. I'm grateful that the pull of the season has been moderated by the love of my family and laughter of my daughter. I'm grateful for all those who do their best to shine their light in the Winter. I'm grateful for family and friends. I'm grateful for each person who reads this blog. And I'm grateful for the warm, sunny days that are beginning to make an appearance.
How can you be the bright spot in someone's day today? What do you do to stay sane during the coldest days of Winter? How do you celebrate the return of nice weather?
May today remind us it is all a cycle and Spring is on its way. May we find joy in the people around us. Have a beautiful day!
