Often times if something is bothering me I try to "sleep on it." This is because all the extra thoughts that may be clouding my judgement during the day melt away at night. I get some of my best ideas and solutions during the night hours. Plus, a good night's sleep is always helpful in clear thinking.
Last night I saw that it is not just adults that accomplish things at night. After a day of trying and trying to roll from her back to her belly, without quite getting there, she did it overnight. One moment she was scooting around her crib half asleep trying to get comfortable. The next moment she was on her belly.
I have read that when a baby is learning a new skill they may have trouble getting a good night's sleep as they continue practicing in their sleep. It was pretty cool to see, though I promptly went in and flipped her back over for sleeping.
I'm grateful for the way things can become clear in the night. I'm grateful for all I learn in my sleep and the understanding and clarity that often comes to me at that time. I'm grateful to see my daughter is continuing to gain new skills even while sleeping. I'm grateful that while I missed that actual moment it happened I was able to see the resulting success. And I'm grateful for all the milestones we each reach every day as we continue this new journey together.
What clarity comes to you at night? Is there something you want to learn or understand that may be waiting for the quiet of night?
May today give us guidance and patience. May we learn what we need in the times that we need it. Have a beautiful day!
