Slamming on the brakes I was able to just clear the truck coming up from my left and slide in behind him, allowing the car swerving at me from the right to miss me by mere inches. In fact, after I pulled into the parking lot at work and allowed myself to fully think about it, it seemed to defy what was physically possible. And the tears fell.
The tears fell for many reasons but mostly for the gratitude that I was safe and I would get to see my family again. Just last week I lost a friend to a car accident. It can happen that fast. Perhaps he was my guardian angel that cleared the way last night.
Gratitude may seem like a weak word for the emotion I felt last night but gratitude has many depths. I am so grateful for last night turning out the way it did and all participants making it home safely. I'm grateful for my guardian angels. I'm grateful to have just looked over my shoulder and in my review mirror so that I had an image in my mind already for the location of the cars around me. I'm grateful that I looked back in time to see and avoid an accident. I'm grateful for the same woman pulling up beside me later and mouthing her apology. I'm grateful to come home to my family, to hug and tell them I love them. I am so grateful!
When have you felt a guardian angel present in your life? Who are you grateful for today?
May today allow safe travels and bring us home to our families. May we remember to tell the ones we love how much they mean to us. Have a beautiful day!
