Perhaps graduating high school is more "standard" now than in was when my parents and grandparents were in school. Sure, there are still plenty of kids who don't finish for any number of reasons. But it seems the overwhelming majority do graduate these days. Does that make it less special? Absolutely not!
Have you taken a look at what kids are learning these days? Things my generation learned in third grade, today's kids are starting in first grade. Preschool seems to be the new kindergarten and even their curriculum has advanced.
Every person graduating, no matter what phase of their life, has accomplished something to be proud! Every person faced different challenges and successes along the way but stuck it through to finish. It isn't about the piece of paper; it is about the character of a person who kept marching toward their goal until it was achieved.
I am so proud of all the people in my life graduating this year. I hope they realize their accomplishment and take a moment to celebrate this beautiful achievement.
I'm grateful to have felt the joy of graduation. I'm grateful to realize school graduations are not the only form of graduation life acknowledges. I'm grateful to be included in the celebrations of so many people who are graduating this year. I'm grateful for their determination and persistence to reach this goal. I'm grateful to share in their pride as I see them preparing for the next goal.
Who do you know that is graduating this year? How can you help them reach their next graduation? How can you celebrate this accomplishment with them today?
May today remind us to celebrate each win. May we continue to grow long after school and recognize the graduations life gives along the way. Have a beautiful day!
