I'm grateful that today is the fourth of July. I'm grateful to get to celebrate with my family today. I'm grateful for what the fourth of July represents. It is a day of celebration not because we are the best but because we stand up for what we believe in even if not everyone agrees. We speak our truths even though they differ from our neighbors, family, and friends and know that this is an honor not all people have today. We defend our ability to believe what we believe knowing that while our country may not agree with us, we have the right to believe it anyway. I'm grateful for these blessings. I'm grateful for the diversity of beliefs I see every day. I'm grateful to honor theirs as they honor mine. I'm grateful for a flag that does not wave for perfection but rather the imperfectly perfect nature of each person living under it. I'm grateful to have been born under this symbol of freedom. I'm grateful for those who take steps each day to make this country better. I'm grateful for the stars and stripes and what it represents to me. What does the flag represent to you? What blessings do you see in living in the U.S.A.? How will you choose to celebrate today? May your day be blessed with laughter and joy. May you exercise the blessings of being free in a loving, respectful, and productive manner and have those same honors bestowed on you. Happy fourth.
I believe the way to a better future starts with gratitude today.
