The mind loves labels, making sense of a complex world and categorizing into less complex categories. But life is not always so easily labeled. Things do not always fit in one nice categorical box wrapped in a bow. In fact, if we are honest, rarely do things one hundred percent fit any one category. There are shades of grey and also some rainbow, iridescent, pearl, and light beams mixed in. This is what makes the world so beautiful and unique.
I'm grateful for the snow, ice, rain, stuff falling from the sky. I'm grateful for the relaxing sound of rain hitting the trees and deck outside. I'm grateful for the fresh look of snow on the deck and the peaceful winter wonderland forming outside. I'm grateful that my footsteps did not disturb the scene of serenity. I'm grateful for this beautiful gift.
I'm grateful to be in a heated house observing this beauty from warmth. I'm grateful to have the silence of the house as my husband continues his winter slumber. I'm grateful for the previous owner who had the foresight to install a driveway heater on our steep mini-mountain driveway. I'm grateful to have woken early enough to use it before I start out on my commute. And I'm grateful that a half day of work today will be all and then I will return to the rest of the week off to spend with my husband and prepare for the new year.
How are you heating your world today? Are you feeling loved and supported in this post holiday? If not, is there gratitude you can find in the blessings you do have? And if not, please reach out to those who will be a support, myself, family, friends, or a hotline.
May your day be blessed by the beauty of this world. May you find love and gratitude in the simple things. And may you feel the support of those around you. Have a beautiful day!
