I'm grateful to be facing some fears today. I will admit that the brown recluse spider in the kitchen would not have been faced had there been anyone else at home to remove it for me. But I'm grateful to have had the courage to stand up and deal with the situation. And I'm grateful that situation is over. (nervous laughter) I'm also grateful to continue learning Scuba today. While studying the manual over the last week, there were several fears that came up. Most of those fears were the result of reading the chapters on what to do if you run out of air. While this is rare and usually avoidable it definitely sounded stressful. I'm grateful to have gotten to practice some small steps yesterday in removing and clearing my regulator (part that supplies air to my mouth) underwater to help me feel more comfortable with its removal and replacement. I'm grateful for good, patient instructors and friendly classmates. I'm grateful to learn safe skills to assist me in exploring my world. What fears can you face today? How can you find the courage to overcome or at least confront this fear? What gratitude can you find in facing this fear? Today I am grateful to learn more scuba skills to prepare me for a real dive. I'm grateful to face the eight-legged fear that crawled up my wall. I'm grateful to know I am safe and protected. I'm grateful to know that I am strong. May your day be blessed with safe challenges to your fears. May you confront those fears and
I believe the way to a better future starts with gratitude today.
