I'm grateful this morning for an extra long meditation. I'm grateful for a quiet house, still, as everyone sleeps. I'm grateful to take the time to focus on my breath, inhaling and exhaling. Often times I focus on expanding my lungs, making sure I am taking nice slow, deep breaths. Focusing on how much I can take in. It is similar in life, always focusing on how much I can take on. Today I am focusing instead on how much air I can push back out of my lungs and how much of my demands I can lay down today. I can only take in as much air as I have created space for and in not exhaling fully there is less space for the new oxygen to nourish me. It is the same in other aspects of life. I can take on only as much as I am willing to set aside other things to balance the load. I'm grateful to exhale. I'm grateful to release fully from my lungs, knowing there is an abundance of fresh air to refill them. I'm grateful to set some responsibilities down so that I may add more play to my day today while knowing that whatever I choose to pick up later will still be there. I'm grateful to know there is balance in this exchange. What can you exhale today? What can you let go of, even just for a few minutes, to give yourself time to refresh? May all your worries be exhaled and may your inhale fill you with renewed peace and love.
I believe the way to a better future starts with gratitude today.
