Today is Earth Day. I would just like to take a moment to embrace the beauty of this planet that allows us life, gives us variety, and nurtures our needs. While there is a growing awareness, I believe that in general this is taken for granted. It seems an afterthought to our hectic lives. Yet just as we pause to celebrate Mother's Day in a few weeks, I believe we have a beautiful opportunity to celebrate Mother Earth today and this weekend.
While planting a forest or starting a new recycling program or clean air initiative in your area are great ways to honor Earth and take care of our planet, it does not have to be so extreme to honor her today. Simply going to a local park and cleaning up a little trash, recycling what you use today, planting a small garden, or even just walking outside and saying "thank you" are good ways to celebrate.
I'm so grateful for the beautiful day we are predicted to have here today so I can spend some time outside. I'm grateful for the beautiful meditation last night. I'm grateful for the love I felt in hugging the trees and I'm grateful to release any worry of how that sounds or what people may think. I'm grateful for this beautiful celebration and I'm grateful for the crowd that showed up. I'm grateful for Earth Day today and the possibility for more outside time in nature.
How will you celebrate Earth Day? Is there something you could do to give honor, or way you could clean up a tiny portion of Mother Earth? Is there a way you can turn it into a fun activity for the community or a group of friends?
May we bless Earth today as much as she blesses us everyday. May we find healing energy in taking care of our planet. Have a beautiful day!
