Some people say that second marriages are like a do over. If that is the case then my husband is my do over. I have to say he is one of the best do overs, best choices I have ever made. He is funny and fun. He is smart and precise. He can do all kinds of accents and impressions and I don't think there is a single movie he has seen that he can't quote. He can be serious and thoughtful and then turn around and be playfully silly. He is the best combination of anything I could ask for.
Our first Christmas together he got me a couple dozen pairs of awesome socks because he knows how much I love fun socks. For me it was more than just a gift of playfulness; it was an acknowledgement and support of my playful, youthful side. We've been a good match ever since, even the days we seem to be two different socks.
I'm grateful for my husband. I'm grateful for the way we fit together and the way we support each other. I'm grateful for our silliness and time we spend just goofing around. I'm grateful for the way we co-parent and the way we play grown-ups together when we need to get stuff done. I'm grateful for this day to spend with my husband, our daughter, and my mother-in-law.
Who are you grateful for today? What is your best "do over"?
May today be a celebration. May we enjoy the people we are with and the differences and similarities that make us unique.
