I'm grateful for dance lessons with my boyfriend last night. I'm grateful for the music and to learn some steps so we can dance together. I'm grateful to learn how to allow him to lead and to gaze in his eyes as we move together. I think dancing is a great metaphor for life. Sometimes life is fast and swinging you around and everything is a blur and then other times the world slows down, if only for a moment, and you get to see the beauty and love that is right in front of you. Sometimes we dance together and other times of our lives we need to do some solo dancing. Perhaps we may miss a step or two, get off beat for a second, or stumble but the music will keep playing, giving us the opportunity to try again. The photo I picked today says "Just because you have a broken wing, does not mean you were not born to fly". Today I propose, "Just because you have two left feet, does not mean you were not born to dance". I'm not a great dancer... yet. But I'm grateful to go out and try to learn some new dances. I'm grateful that I have a supportive boyfriend that is willing to go with me. I'm grateful to know that, while it will take some practice, we will figure it out together. I'm grateful to wake with music and step counts still in my head this morning. I'm grateful to be eager to be back dancing in his arms. And I'm grateful for the deep love I see reflected in his eyes as we step out together to learn something new. Who is your "dance partner" in life? If not dancing, what would you love to learn? Who would you like to share these lessons? I'm grateful for music. I'm grateful for dancing and the patient instruction of those who know how. I'm grateful to have a partner. And I'm grateful for the beautiful day ahead. May today's dance be smooth and loving! Happy Saturday, everyone!
I believe the way to a better future starts with gratitude today.
