Often times I color by outlining the area I am going to color and then shading inside. Yet there are many techniques to coloring. Shading, blending, and even coloring only parts of the picture all give it different styles. In fact, sometimes the bleed look adds beauty to a picture by letting the color flow outside the lines.
Sometimes a "mistake" I made in color turns out to make the picture even better. Other times it allows me to let go of my preplanned image and go more whimsical. Coloring allows me the freedom to practice letting go of perfection so that when it comes to life I can have the practice and skills to say, imperfect is the best "perfection".
I'm grateful for time to color again now that my daughter is getting older. I'm grateful for this creative outlet. I'm grateful for this day to introduce coloring to my baby. I'm grateful for a creative way to pass on this lesson about perfection and letting things go. I'm grateful to pass on the importance of creativity. And I'm grateful to reconnect to my childlike spirit.
When was the last time you colored? What medium do you prefer? What is your favorite creative outlet?
May today inspire us to be creative. May we let the colors flow how they choose and know it is perfect no matter what. Have a beautiful day!
