The colder weather combined with the later sunrise make me ready for a Winter cocoon. I'm ready to snuggle deep in some blankets and hibernate until the Spring. Perhaps I was a bear in a past life.
This year is a little different, however. This year I have a sweet baby, nearly three months old. It is a whole new ball game. There is so much to show her with these changing seasons. The leaves turning colors over the last month will now finish falling from the limbs. Perhaps she will see her first snowflakes in the month to come. And it is as if I am seeing these things for the first time again. I imagine it will be even more so next year as she is old enough to interact with the changes.
I'm grateful for a new perspective. I'm grateful to put my cocoon on hold so I can enjoy and explore these changes with my daughter. I'm grateful for the option to curl up on the sofa with a blanket and my family in the weeks and months to come. I'm grateful to choose to explore but also to rest as I find a new balance in my life. And I'm grateful for the changing temperatures that move us toward the next season.
I'm grateful for all the changes the trees go through this time of year. I'm grateful to witness their transition as I myself transition. I'm grateful for the connection I have to the trees and the comfort I find in being near them. And I'm grateful for this tree (pictured) that allowed me a cozy cocoon for a short while.
How will you greet the changing seasons? Will you cocoon or will you explore? What supports you during these transitions?
May Mother Nature be gentle in our transition. May we find comfort and joy in the changing seasons. May we embrace these shifts and use them to support our own changes. Have a beautiful day!
