The news of my mom's neighborhood having a garage sale has spurred me into action. Yes, our neighborhood has an annual garage sale but with our super steep driveway and my work schedule it did not lend itself to participating this year. At my parents' house the driveway is spacious and there is a fenced play set to occupy my toddler.
The clearing started with some boxes that were still at my parents' house from when I sold my house many years ago. Going through the boxes was not as tiring as I thought it might be, especially since most of the boxes were books. Instead it energized me to come home and start digging through my own basement and garage for all the things we don't use or don't need multiples!
It is so refreshing clearing space. Seeing the pile grow is exhilarating!
I have read about how it is good for the mind and soul to clear out periodically. Well it took me a while but now I see and FEEL the truth in it. My only question is, "what else can I add to the pile?"
I'm grateful to clear out the house. I'm grateful to finally go through the boxes at my parents'. I'm grateful for all the great memories that get attached to things and I'm equally grateful to see I can keep the memory without the physical stuff. I'm grateful to clear out. I'm grateful to gain space. And I'm grateful my husband and I are on the same page as we clear.
What do you want to clear out? How can you give yourself the space you need?
May today allow us to let go. May we find energy and comfort in not holding on. Have a beautiful day!
