It is fitting the days will be getting a little longer as hope is celebrated and re-birthed. Those who have been struggling can hopefully find some solace that Spring is coming again. And no matter how you choose to celebrate, or even what religion you choose to identify with this season, I hope you find time to spend with the ones you love.
I will not delve into my beliefs here but I find such strength in the rich symbolism this time of year. It was not always the case. I used to really struggle this time of year. Having a young daughter and all the magic she sees in the holidays definitely helps. But it was also coming to an understanding within myself and allowing old pains and confusion to heal that helped the lights shine a little brighter on the tree and the season taste a little sweeter.
Everyone's story is different but no matter your story I hope you find some peace this holiday season. I hope you find people to be with that bring you joy. And I hope you find comfort in the days beginning to grow longer again.
I'm grateful for a peaceful Christmas Eve morning. I'm grateful for a fun weekend with family. I'm grateful to wake back in my own bed with my own pillow. I'm grateful my daughter slept fairly well last night despite the "death" of her beloved binky. I'm grateful for a day ahead of family and celebration. I'm grateful to be welcomed home by an eager and playful "puppy" of twelve years. I'm grateful the only stirring is that of my fingers on the keyboard and not the rest of the household, and especially not a mouse. I'm grateful for a beautiful new day, and a slightly longer one at that.
What is your favorite tradition on Christmas Eve? Who do you choose to spend your time with at the holidays? And what are you grateful for this morning?
May today remind us of all the beauty in today. May we find comfort and strength in the symbolism and love all around us. Have a beautiful day!
