A thunderstorm moved through last night with rumbles so strong the house shook. Lightning flashed, creating a light show across my daughter's bedroom walls as I rocked her. As a new mom I worried she would not be able to sleep with the storm and my mind worked through possible options if this were the case. As I stared at the window, watching the shadows dance on the closed shades, I was surprised to hear a subtle sound. Baby snores drifted up through the dark. My daughter was sound asleep. While the storm had sent my mind racing, for her, it had brought relaxation. I sat there for a while longer, able to enjoy the storm. I love thunderstorms. And it was nice to be able to chill out and enjoy that moment with my baby. Outside, nature was chilling out herself. Waking this morning the temperature had gone from eighties down to the forties. It is one more sign that Autumn has arrived. I'm grateful for the chill. I'm grateful for the storm last night and the opportunity to relax and enjoy it with my daughter. I'm grateful for the light show. I'm grateful to watch the shadows dance on the wall to natures orchestra. I'm grateful for the crisp morning air that makes me want to carve pumpkins and eat fresh apple cider donuts. I'm grateful to be living in this moment. What helps you relax? What do you enjoy about this time of year? What are you grateful for in this moment? May today bless us with the opportunity to relax and enjoy the moment. May we take a lesson from nature and just chill. Have a beautiful day! |
