In many ways this ceremony was outside the "box" of traditional christenings and yet it honored the spirit as we acknowledged godparents and blessed this new child. It was so beautiful to see loved ones gathering to bless and honor our child. It meant the world to me!
Besides a ceremony with the blessings and promises that we, as parents, chose and asked our loved ones to help us uphold we also allowed those in attendance to write or say their own blessings for our child. They were placed in a special blessings box that was gifted from my own godmother. These blessings and all the love from the ceremony welcome her into this family. And yet it is the continued love that will carry her through life.
I'm so grateful for such a wonderful community of friends and family. I'm grateful for our small ceremony even though there is a much larger collection of family and friends truly behind her in her raising and endeavors. I'm grateful for her godparents who will do a wonderful job in helping us raise her. I'm grateful for her grandparents that will be a loving support behind her and us as parents. I'm grateful for the community that forms around a new child and I'm grateful to say we have a great one! I'm grateful to be so blessed and to have a box full of blessings for my baby girl.
How do you celebrate the introduction of a new child? How do you love and support your community's children?
How do you honor individuality?
May today bless us all with loving and supportive community. May we celebrate our individuality and feel the blessings of love all around us. Have a beautiful day!
