Sunday was much better as our two-year-old returned to the sweetheart we are used to and plans fell into place for a fun family day. We made it to Boo at the Zoo which was a lot of fun! Our little giraffe ran from animal to animal in excitement.
While my daughter napped at home I made the treats for her first preschool party. Then when she woke we were back at it again as we participated in Trunk or Treat at the church.
It was a full day, a whole weekend crammed into one day. It was a great day.
As I look back over Saturday and Sunday; I have to admit that one of the biggest differences between the two was my own attitude. Saturday my disappointment about missing out going to the zoo probably fueled the increasingly frustrating interactions with my daughter. Sunday was awesome and exhausting. But both days I was blessed to spend with my family.
I'm grateful to look back and see where I could have improved and shifted the energy of Saturday. I'm grateful to accept some responsibility while releasing judgment on areas I fell short of my high standards. I'm grateful to have such a wonderful family. I'm grateful for my daughter, even when she is testing more limits than I appreciate. I'm grateful for my daughter's sweet, inquisitive nature. I'm grateful for family cuddles. I'm grateful for a fun day of Halloween activities. And I'm grateful for the new day ahead.
What is your favorite thing to do with family? If you had a whole day to do anything with your kids or parents, what would you choose?
May today remind us to focus on what's truly important. May we celebrate the good times and focus on the blessing of being together no matter what the day brings. Have a beautiful day!
