I love being easily amused. I love being quick to laugh and quick to be awe-struck by something as simple as a cloud passing by the sun. It is a youthfulness that I cherish about my personality.
Yes, I have times of darkness, times of sadness where these traits do not show. Yes, there have been times I have hidden these traits for fear of rejection. And being a gratitude coach,, focusing on optimism, was a learned behavior not a natural personality trait for me. And more than once being easily amused has been my saving grace.
I'm grateful for this side of myself. I'm grateful to get distracted by the beauty of nature or overwhelmed by a colorful sunrise. I'm grateful to go on a rainbow hunt every morning with my daughter thanks to the help of the prism in our front window. I'm grateful to laugh, especially after days of sadness. I'm grateful to use Laughter Yoga to help raise my spirits and I'm equally grateful for the laughs that come naturally. I'm grateful to be easily amused. I'm grateful, now as an adult, to shrug off how anyone else may feel about it and embrace this silly side. And I'm grateful for a wild imagination that adds humor even when nothing is really happening.
When was the last time you laughed? When was the last time you giggled uncontrollably? When was the last time you shrugged off what someone else said and let yourself shine?
May today embrace all of our quirks and beautiful uniqueness. May we find joy in being ourselves. And may we allow a little more laughter in our lives. Have a beautiful day!
