My hypothesis is that couple that craft together, laugh together and couples that laugh together, last. I will admit we would not be doing this project but for our beautiful child. I love dreaming big to create magical rooms and she is worth the effort.
My husband is my practical balance. He helps me to slow down, plan, and figure out all the logistics of things, like how to mount a giant tree to a wall when the stud is right next to an angle. And I balance him with phrases like "let's think BIGGER!" and "let's see what happens", or even "let's see where the creativity takes us!"
I'm so very grateful for a weekend of creative energy. I'm grateful to get to see my vision coming to life in front of my eyes. I'm grateful for my husband's ability to calmly assess a situation when a curveball gets thrown. I'm grateful for the million ways he balances me, keeps me grounded, and makes me stronger. I'm grateful to have someone solid so that I can have the freedom to fly. He is the tree to my owl and the roots to my swaying branches and I am grateful to see all the ways our differences strengthen us. I'm grateful to be anything but normal and yet be able to play "normal" enough to function in our society. And I'm grateful for a life partner that can be just as "not normal" in his own way.
In what ways are you "not normal"? How do you balance? Is there someone in your life as your counter-balance?
May today remind us that our differences are strengths. May we give up on what is normal and simply live life to our fullest. May we dream big and have the joy of seeing its creation. Have a beautiful day!
