My family and I stayed in with the furnace keeping us warm. Even the dog was reluctant to go out and made her bathroom breaks as short as possible. It was the perfect day to stay home and get some quality time.
Winter may have arrived outside but inside our home is filled with a beautiful floral scent. My favorite plant, Isa, has graced us with flowers. And just one beautiful stalk of flowers fills the house with her beautiful aroma.
It is the perfect combination of beauty inside and out. It is like two different worlds living in harmony. And I will admit I prefer being on this side, the warm side, and just peering out at the beauty of the cold snow outdoors.
I'm grateful for the lovely scent that has filled the house the last few days. I'm grateful for the added strength it gains when I go up the stairs. I'm grateful for these beautiful flowers at a time when the plants outside are dropping their leaves and everything is turning brown. I'm grateful for the way the snow over the skylight gives a pinkish purple cast to the whole room. I'm grateful for Isa and all the years we have shared together. And I'm grateful that it has only been in the last few that she has surprised us with flowers, confirming we are truly home now.
I'm grateful for the beauty of the snow outside. I'm grateful for its crisp stillness. I'm grateful for all the light it reflects making even the night bright like dawn. I'm grateful we did not have to get out in it yesterday and that we were able to make it home from groceries before the snow started. I'm grateful the delivery person stopped eight stops away and (hopefully) went somewhere safe to weather out the storm. I'm grateful for all the crews that worked last night to hopefully make today's commute safe.
What is your favorite season? What beauty do you see looking out your window? What beauty do you see looking in?
May today balance the beauty outside with the beauty inside. May we find that same balance in ourselves as we celebrate what makes us uniquely beautiful. Have a beautiful day!
